Conference Visa from Pakistan: Attendee or Speaker
Attending a conference abroad is usually covered by a business or visitor visa, but the documents depend on whether you attend or speak, and on whether you are paid. This guide explains the common cases. Always check the rules of the country you are visiting.
Attending as a delegate
Delegates pay a registration fee and attend sessions. You normally need the conference registration confirmation, your own proof of employment or business, bank statements, an itinerary with hotel and flights, and travel insurance where required. The registration confirmation shows the dates and purpose.
Speaking at a conference
A speaker should have an invitation from the organiser that names the talk, the dates and what the organiser covers, such as registration, accommodation or travel. If you are only reimbursed for costs, say so. If you are paid a fee, check carefully, because payment for work can change the permission you need.
Employer or company letter
A letter from your employer or your own company should confirm your position, the purpose of the trip, the dates and that you will return to your role.
Funds and ties
Show that you can pay for the trip yourself or that the organiser or employer does, and that you have strong reasons to return to Pakistan: a job, a business, a family. Consistent bank statements matter more than a large balance.
Timing
Conference dates are fixed, so start early. For Schengen countries applications are generally accepted up to six months before travel and decisions normally take up to 15 calendar days after an admissible application, plus the appointment wait.
Common mistakes
Applying with only a registration receipt and no itinerary, unclear payment arrangements for speakers, and dates that do not match the programme.
