Canada Business Visitor Visa from Pakistan: How It Works

By Ali Baba Travel Advisor14 October 2026 5 min read

Canada has a business visitor category for short trips such as attending meetings, conferences and trade fairs, or negotiating contracts, without entering the Canadian labour market. Pakistani citizens need a visitor visa (a temporary resident visa) and usually give biometrics. Rules and fees are set by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and can change, so use the official IRCC website as your final guide.

What a business visitor can do

Attend business meetings, conferences and trade fairs, negotiate or sign contracts, meet clients or suppliers, and take part in training or site visits as part of a short business trip. The work or income should stay outside Canada, and the stay should be temporary.

What needs a work permit instead

Doing work for a Canadian employer, working for Canadian clients, or any activity that takes a job from the Canadian labour market needs a work permit, not a visitor visa.

How to apply

Applications are usually made online through the IRCC portal, with a document upload, the fee and biometrics. You may be asked for more documents after you submit. Keep your documents clear, in order and consistent.

Documents commonly prepared

A valid passport and a copy of your travel history. An invitation letter from the Canadian company or event organiser with dates and purpose. Your company registration, NTN and tax documents, or an employer letter. Business and personal bank statements showing consistent income. An itinerary and accommodation plan. Evidence of ties to Pakistan, such as your business, job and family.

What the officer assesses

Whether you are a genuine temporary visitor, whether you can pay for the trip and whether you will leave at the end of your stay. A real business, stable income and a clear purpose help.

Common reasons for refusal

An unclear purpose, weak ties to Pakistan, funds that do not match the plan, and an invitation that cannot be verified. Never submit false documents, as misrepresentation can lead to a multi-year ban.
